Catherine Lawler, MBA

Cathy Lawler is a Regional Director for Paradigm Associates. She is also the President of The Alternative Board (TAB) of Central New Jersey, a peer board advisory and coaching business for privately held companies. Cathy brings over 25 years of experience in marketing, sales, organizational development and general management. She is known for building and leading high performing teams that lead to increased sales and profits.

Cathy leads business transformations that drive profitable growth by applying her experience and expertise to diverse businesses, industries and distribution channels. This experience includes food and beverages, building products, art & stationery, office products, toy, gift, and school fundraising sectors. Cathy has been involved in building major national brands such as Maxwell House, Kool-Aid, Crayola and Trex - as well as successful new products, new business start-ups and turnarounds. She brings experience from large traditional companies like Kraft and Hallmark and smaller, more entrepreneurial organizations.

Major accomplishments include: successfully defending Sanka® against Procter & Gamble's national introduction of High Point® (subsequently withdrawn from the market); re-energizing Crayola® crayons with a new color strategy that generated publicity equivalent to over $100 million of advertising and reversed a multi-year negative unit sales trend; introducing two successful new brands in new categories of Jazzy Jewelry and Model Magic for Hallmark's Crayola Company; starting up Holiday Gallery - a successful gift business; and launching e-commerce at Market Day, generating over 200,000 online orders per month, making Market Day one of the largest online grocers in early 2000.

Prior to joining Paradigm Associates, Cathy was SVP of Marketing at Trex, the inventor and leader in composite decking, where she led a turnaround that drove 30% top and bottom line growth by introducing a successful new "good, better, best" product line which leapfrogged competition (Origins, Accents, Brasilia). She also repositioned the brand back to its core essence and created a new advertising campaign (Create Your Space) which won an advertising effectiveness award. She led the development of new industry segments including railing and fencing, developed a more effective channel strategy and plan, and developed and implemented effective new product and annual planning processes.

Cathy has a Bachelors Degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Masters of Business Administration from Columbia University, where she graduated second in her class, was a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society, and received the Marketing Excellence Award.
